This plate was hand-shaped by Mai Tagawa, a potter living in Oyama, Tochigi Prefecture.
Size: Approximately 18 to 19 cm
*Approximate size.
Those who like the slightly distorted and organic shapes that are typical of hand-made products will be impressed. It's the perfect size for a main dish or a bread plate. It's nice that the edges are steep so it can catch some of the soup.
Although the overall shape is thin and delicate, it does not have a prickly feel, and combined with the texture of the uniquely mixed glaze, it has a soft and gentle atmosphere.
I personally think that ``white'' is Mr. Tagawa's signature glaze. The reddish-brown color of Shigaraki's soil shines through, giving you an indescribable nuance. The back side is also beautiful. Highly recommended.
The surface has intrusions, and the white color is especially easy to see changes over time, so it is especially recommended for those who want to clearly see the process of ``the growing of the pottery''.
