This mug has a pattern created using the inlay technique of Taro Makihara of Hiroshima.
Size: Diameter 6.5 x height approximately 9 cm
This is Makihara's masterpiece. After carving each line with a needle, the grooves are filled with clay to create the pattern. It's a bit dizzying to think about the time and effort it takes to apply glaze to the surface, top, and bottom, but thanks to that process, it's a wonderful item that can be called a masterpiece.
He delivered a lot of work even though he told me that it was difficult because he had to do so much detailed work that he developed tendonitis. I would appreciate it if you could appreciate and admire Mr. Makihara's wrist.
